VI COMMANDO

Lt. P. Winser

2/Lt. P. Winser, formerly of the Oxford & Bucks Light Infantry, served with No.2 Troop of No.6 Commando from 14th May 1941, but had transferred to No.4 Troop prior to Operation Torch.

He was wounded on 14th December 1942 when his Fighting Patrol was ambushed by Germans dressed in British and American uniforms.  In that same action Cpl. William Bennett was also wounded and later died.

He was later trained as a Sniper/Intelligence Officer.
